Who am I?
Born and raised under the hot Curaçao sun, I came into contact with salsa from an early age. I grew up with it. But I wanted more and I started following dance courses abroad and in the Netherlands. This way I gained a lot of knowledge. Teaching dance is a real experience profession. “The more knowledge and experience you have, the better you become at your profession. You hardly have any knowledge and experience in the beginning, so the only way to become a good teacher is by trial and error. In recent years I have been able to work on the “mistakes”. I went back to the little boy who then “just” moved to music, which is called Baile de la calle (=street dance). As a result, I now have a perfect balance between technique, experience, passion, feeling and fun and the students of NextDance get this.
My passion for salsa started on the streets of the Caribbean islands. Everyone dances there and dancing is a “way to live”, a “lifestyle”!
During my classes I share this knowledge and passion with my students. My goal is to create an unparalleled dance experience in a welcoming environment where conviviality is central. Anyone can learn salsa and with the right teacher it is fun and easy. The hardest part is taking that first step… and scheduling a trial class, and walking in. Once you take those first steps, the steps on the floor are as easy as breathing.
