Bachata is characterized by the footwork and playfulness while dancing. The tempo of the music is average compared to Salsa and Kizomba.

Salsa is nauw verwant aan andere Zuid-Amerikaanse muziekstijlen zoals merengue, bachata, cumbia, chachacha en de Cubaanse son en bolero.
